Controversial take: for most sites, Search Console's Performance report is enough. It shows average position, which keywords you rank for, and trends over time. Free and accurate.
If you need daily tracking for specific keywords, client reporting, or competitor tracking, then get a dedicated tool. AccuRanker or Nightwatch are solid. But don't pay $100/month if GSC covers your needs.
The Rank Tracking Trap
Rankings fluctuate constantly. Personalization, location, device, and random variation mean the same query can show different results every time. Chasing daily ranking changes is a recipe for anxiety and wasted effort.
Track trends over weeks and months, not days. A ranking drop on Tuesday that recovers by Friday isn't a crisis. A consistent decline over three months is worth investigating.
Also: traffic matters more than rankings. Position #3 with a compelling snippet can outperform position #1 with a boring title. Focus on clicks and conversions, not just positions.
